Action Alert - Russia Inquiry - 2/17/17
Please call Rep. King, Sen. Schumer & Sen. Gillibrand -- especially our Senators.
That they cease all Congressional business until an independent commission and special prosecutor is appointed to investigate the numerous links between the Trump administration and Russia.
That they call upon Attorney General Sessions to recuse himself of the investigation.
> James Comey, FBI Director, cannot be trusted to be neutral after his one-sided interference in the 2016 election. He also reports directly to AG Sessions, who was Trump’s first and most ardent supporter in the Senate.
> Sessions wrote last month that he was “not aware of a basis to recuse myself.”
> Many Republicans want to ignore this serious situation and get on with their agenda.
> Sen. Rand Paul recently said, “We’ll never even get started with doing the things we need to do, like repealing Obamacare, if we’re spending our whole time having Republicans investigate Republicans.”
> Democrats cannot force Sessions to remove himself from an investigation, but they can use political and public pressure. That’s where we come in.
> Sen. Schumer has already said that Sessions should not be involved because of potential conflicts of interest. He warned that the “investigation will remain jaundiced and the American people will doubt the credibility of its findings,” citing Sessions’ early endorsement of Trump, his work on his presidential campaign and his association with Flynn during that time. Please thank Sen. Schumer for speaking up.
We must continue to push our Senators and let them know that we support them in this fight, and we must let Rep. King know that we expect him to stand up and do what’s right. Our country depends on it.
